APPLE JUICE

In the autumn of 2011 we started this small business, producing apple juice from the excess apples of friends and neighbours. That year we made some 2000 bottles.

The juice is made in the processing barn at Five Penny Farm near Charmouth in West Dorset, which is part of a local small producer's cooperative.

The apples are washed in a big tub of water, crushed in a new, big electric apple crusher and then pressed using a very large and very old traditional cider press. The juice comes pouring out in a wonderful cascade.

It is then filtered, bottled and pasteurised.

We use the word Scrumpers because we like the rascal-like associations, but really we have agreements with the owners of the apples where-by we get the apples and we give them juice and an orchard-clearing service in return.

Every one is happy.

Avenir Light is a clean and stylish font favored by designers. It's easy on the eyes and a great go to font for titles, paragraphs & more.

In 2016 we entered the juice in for the Taste of the West Awards and won Champion in the 'cold non-alcoholic drink' section. We've also won several Golds over the years.

The bottles of juice.

Green lids are the sharper juice and red lids are the sweeter.

To remember which is which think of green apples being sharp.

The cider press with six 'cheeses' - a layer of apple pulp folded up in cheese-cloth. The heavy lid is on the top, we have started to squeeze, and the juice is pouring out.
